Chin augmentation is a usual complementary procedure with rhinoplasty in those who have retruded chin. It is a simple operation with a small incision inside the mouth or 2-3 cm incision under the mentum. A suitable silicon long live prosthesis is inserted on chin. It takes a few minutes and the result is excellent. Small or retruded cheek may be congenital or acquired. By aging, the cheek bone may get smaller and the soft tissue covering it descend and give an unpleasant apperance to midface. With a small buccal incision and a soft silicon prosthesis insertion, a beautiful cheek can be made. They could be done under local anesthesia with a short clinic stay. You may experience temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, numbness and/or stiffness. If you have had intra-oral incision, observe careful oral health with regular washing with proper mouth wash. For chin, there is usually some pain in jaw and limitation of motion. Also you may have some black and blue marks around chin and neck and temporary difficulty with smiling and talking.
For cheek, a dressing will be applied to minimize discomfort and swelling. Ability to move your mouth and lips may be diminished temporarily
